Firefighters in Jonesboro responded Friday evening to a significant house fire behind Turtle Creek Mall. The two-story home, located in the 3500 block of Viking Street, caught fire around 6:01 p.m., according to Jonesboro Police. Flames were visible upon the arrival of the Jonesboro Fire Department, which described the incident as an “involved structure fire.”
Crews managed to bring the blaze under control, though five or six fire trucks remained on the scene late into the evening addressing hot spots and conducting cleanup. The fire occurred near the intersection of Viking and Winston Streets, just behind the mall. While police reported no impact on traffic, they advised drivers to avoid the area until operations were fully completed.
Authorities have not yet released information regarding any injuries or the cause of the fire.
Drivers and residents are encouraged to steer clear of the affected area while emergency personnel continue their work.
