TRUMANN, Ark. — Authorities located what they believe to be human remains Friday during a search for missing Trumann resident Rebecca Spray, according to a statement from Mayor Jay Paul Woods.

Spray was reported missing to the Trumann Police Department on Aug. 14. As part of the investigation, police obtained a search warrant for a property at 401 N. Pine Ave. The warrant was executed at approximately 8:15 a.m. Friday by the Trumann Police Department SWAT Team and the Poinsett County Sheriff’s Office SWAT Team.

During the search, investigators discovered suspected human remains on the property. The remains have not yet been positively identified, officials said. They will be sent to the Arkansas State Crime Laboratory in Little Rock for examination, which will include efforts to determine the deceased's identity and, when possible, the cause and manner of death.

The investigation is being conducted by the Trumann Police Department, with assistance from the Poinsett County Sheriff’s Office, Arkansas State Police, and the FBI. Authorities were still processing the scene and gathering evidence as of Friday. Mayor Woods stated that additional information will be released once it has been confirmed.

The mayor extended gratitude to the Trumann Police Department, Poinsett County Sheriff’s Office, Arkansas State Police, FBI, and Delta EMS for their support and work on the case.

This is an ongoing investigation.
