LITTLE ROCK, Ark. – Arkansas drivers are facing higher costs at the pump, with the statewide average for regular unleaded gas reaching $3.80 per gallon, according to the AAA Arkansas Weekend Gas Watch.

This marks an increase of nine cents per gallon from last week and $1.02 more compared to the same date in 2025. Prices in major metropolitan areas reflect similar trends, with drivers in Jonesboro currently paying an average of $3.76 per gallon.

Nationally, the average price for regular unleaded has risen by three cents to $4.10 per gallon, AAA reported. This also represents the highest recorded average on this date.

"So far, the monthly average is $4.06, currently surpassing 2022 when the monthly average for August was $3.97," stated AAA in a press release on Thursday. The organization noted that despite a seasonal downturn in gasoline demand, rising crude oil prices are pushing averages higher.
