The Mountain Home City Council is set to consider several key proposals during its regular meeting on Thursday at 5 p.m. in the council chambers of the Municipal Building, located at 720 Hickory Street.

Among the items under new business is a resolution to rename the Mountain Home Kids Fishing Derby in honor of Coach Don Webb. The resolution is being presented by council members Hillrey Adams and Daniel Baxley.

The council will also review a resolution to authorize the city to apply for a $400,000 grant through the States Economic Development Assistance Program, administered by the Delta Regional Authority. If approved, the grant would be used to replace the emergency generator at the city’s water intake plant.

Significant changes to the city’s water and sewer rates are also on the agenda. The council will consider an ordinance amending the rates charged to users of these utilities, while also addressing payment schedules, activation fees, penalties, and damages. The ordinance would repeal the current utility rate framework established under Ordinance 2025-9. Additionally, the council will take up a separate ordinance to amend the contracted water rates between the Mountain Home Water Department and its wholesale purchasers.

Two water infrastructure projects are also slated for discussion. The first involves a resolution to allocate $25,000 from restricted water depreciation funds to the Presbyterian Drive water line project. The second would allocate the same amount of funding for the Foster Street water line project.

The council will weigh zoning-related proposals as well. One ordinance, presented by Ted Sanders, seeks to rezone an area from Residential R-1 to Residential R-1A. Another, submitted by Ace-Co Investments LLC, proposes changing an area from Commercial C-3 to Residential R-4.

In addition, the council is set to discuss adopting Section 319 of the Arkansas Fire Prevention Code, which would establish inspection requirements for mobile food preparation vehicles. An accompanying ordinance would regulate food trucks, mobile vendors, and food truck courts within Mountain Home.

The meeting is open to the public.
