A four-person crew from North Arkansas Electric Cooperative is assisting with storm recovery efforts in the Russellville area after severe weather earlier this week caused widespread power outages.
At the height of the storm, approximately 18,000 Arkansas Valley Electric Cooperative members were left without electricity, according to the utility. Crews are currently working to restore service and repair significant infrastructure damage that included 130 broken utility poles.
North Arkansas Electric's support adds to the broader recovery operation led by Arkansas Valley Electric Cooperative, which serves the Arkansas River Valley region. Storm recovery work is ongoing, and officials have not specified when full restoration is expected.
This collaboration highlights the mutual aid agreements among electric cooperatives to respond quickly when major storms impact neighboring service areas. No injuries related to storm recovery efforts have been reported as of now.
