A youth hunting and fishing club with a Christian mission will hold a fundraising event on Saturday at Twin Lakes Baptist Church’s Hope Center, located at 2645 Highway 62 SW. Doors open at 4:30 p.m., and the program will run from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m.
The Buffalo River Arkansas chapter of Cross Trail Outfitters, which mentors boys through outdoor activities, is organizing the event to benefit its local programs. Activities will include door prizes, raffles, and a pie auction. Tickets are $40 and are available at Rivertown Gallery, 3512 Highway 62 W, Mountain Home, or by calling 870-425-3898.
Founded in 2004, Cross Trail Outfitters focuses on what it describes as building men, preserving outdoor heritage, and sharing faith. The organization operates year-round, hosting summer camps, weekend outings, sportsmen’s nights, and family nights. Members participate in real hunting and fishing trips almost every month of the year and learn skills such as taxidermy, game processing, and handling various fishing and hunting equipment.
The group works closely with private landowners, who provide access to property for outings and camps. Cross Trail Outfitters screens and trains its adult volunteers, carries liability insurance, and extends this coverage to all properties it uses for events.
Duane Hada leads the Arkansas chapter as state director. Hada, a well-known Ozark artist and operator of Rivertown Gallery, was inducted into the Arkansas Outdoor Hall of Fame in 2022. He cites his transition into full-time ministry with the organization as inspired in part by the stories his wife—a schoolteacher—shared about boys lacking father figures.
