JONESBORO, Ark. — Arkansas State University reopened its classrooms on Monday, welcoming thousands of students to campus for the start of the fall semester.

The Jonesboro campus was bustling with activity as students attended their first classes. For many, the day was a mix of excitement and anticipation, heralding the beginning of academic and social opportunities for both new and returning students.

Lauren Rodgers, a junior at the university, shared her enthusiasm about returning to campus and reconnecting with friends. “I’m really excited for the first day of class because all my friends are back on campus together,” Rodgers said. She admitted to feeling some nervousness about meeting new professors and adjusting to their expectations but described her overall outlook as positive.

Junior Emma Everett echoed similar excitement as she prepared for the semester ahead. “I’m so excited to be here today, see all my new friends and get into classes and just have a great day,” Everett said.

While the exact enrollment numbers for the fall have yet to be announced, Arkansas State is coming off a record-setting spring semester with more than 16,000 students enrolled. That marked a 6.4% increase in enrollment compared to the spring of the previous year, signaling continued growth for the institution.

With the academic year now underway, students and faculty alike are anticipating a busy semester filled with learning and campus events.
