Arkansas high school seniors now have a streamlined way to apply to colleges across the state through the newly launched Arkansas ACCESS Portal. Governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders and the Arkansas Department of Education unveiled the platform this week, designed to simplify the college application process by allowing students to apply to multiple institutions with a single form, one login, and no application fees.

"I signed Arkansas ACCESS last year to rebuild our higher education system so that every Arkansas high school student is prepared for the in-demand careers of the future—whether by enrolling, enlisting, or becoming employed," Gov. Sanders said in a statement. "I’m proud to see the Arkansas Department of Education taking massive steps forward to make quality education more accessible."

The portal, a central component of the broader Arkansas ACCESS initiative signed into law in 2025, enables students to apply to up to five participating colleges and universities simultaneously. Arkansas Secretary of Education Jacob Oliva emphasized that the streamlined approach aims to alleviate barriers for students and their families.

"With one application and one login, students can reach nearly every campus in Arkansas without fees or barriers," Oliva said. "Now, every student in Arkansas can explore different pathways and connect directly with the institutions that will help them achieve their goals."

The platform standardizes admissions procedures by ensuring that students who meet the baseline requirements for participating institutions receive provisional admission. Detailed follow-up information on the next steps will then be provided by those institutions.

Additionally, the Department of Education’s Electronic Transcript System integrates directly with the Arkansas ACCESS Portal. This feature preloads a student’s coursework, grade point average, and test scores into the application, eliminating the need for families to repeatedly enter the same information for each institution.

According to a state education release, the portal was developed internally within 12 months of Arkansas ACCESS being signed into law. Currently, all of the state’s public four-year and two-year colleges, as well as 50% of its private institutions, are participating in the initiative. School counselors and career coaches will assist students in using the portal during senior advisories, FAFSA nights, and application days, with the goal of ensuring that every senior submits at least one application before priority deadlines.

The Arkansas ACCESS initiative builds on earlier education reforms, including the Arkansas LEARNS Act signed in 2023, which restructured the state’s K-12 education system. The portal is now live and available for use by seniors, parents, counselors, and career coaches.
