Keiser, Ark. — The City of Keiser is under a boil water order after an issue with its chlorination system, Mayor Rick Creecy announced Wednesday.

According to Creecy, the malfunction has made the water supply unsafe for direct consumption. While crews work to repair the system, the city has established a temporary connection to Osceola’s water supply.

“Because of this temporary supply connection, this boil order is expected to be short-lived while our system is restored to normal operation,” Creecy stated in a news release.

Residents are urged to boil water for at least one full minute before using it for drinking, cooking, or food preparation. Additional recommendations include discarding ice cubes and using boiled or bottled water exclusively for making ice. Bottled water may also be used as an alternative for drinking and cooking needs.

Bathing, laundry, and toilet flushing remain safe under the boil order; however, Creecy advised extra caution for infants, older individuals, and those with weakened immune systems.

The boil order will remain in place until the water supply is tested and meets safety standards set by the Arkansas Department of Health.

The city plans to lift the order once the system is fully operational and verified to be safe for consumption.
