Rural Lawrence County, Ark. — A 20-year-old man from Pocahontas died, and a 21-year-old woman from Ash Flat was injured in a head-on collision Monday morning on U.S. 63.

The Arkansas State Police reported that the crash occurred around 7:59 a.m. near Lawrence Road 106. According to the preliminary fatal crash report, a 2005 Jeep Liberty traveling south on the highway crossed the centerline and struck a northbound 2012 Chevrolet Traverse head-on.

The driver of the Traverse, identified as Wyatt A. McIntare, 20, of Pocahontas, was pronounced dead at the scene. The driver of the Jeep Liberty, Morgan A. Wiles, 21, of Ash Flat, sustained injuries and was transported to Regional One Health in Memphis, Tennessee, for treatment.

The weather was clear, and road conditions were dry at the time of the crash, according to the report.

Authorities have not released further details as the investigation continues.
