LITTLE ROCK, Ark. — Arkansas high school students now have a streamlined way to apply to colleges within the state at no cost, thanks to the Arkansas ACCESS Portal introduced by the Department of Education.
The newly launched platform allows students to apply to up to five participating institutions with a single application. The system, designed to simplify what has traditionally been a cumbersome process, auto-fills essential information such as transcripts, grade point averages, and standardized test data, according to the governor's office.
All of Arkansas's two-year and four-year colleges are participating in the initiative. Additionally, half of the state’s private institutions have also joined the program, further expanding college options for students.
Jacob Oliva, Arkansas Secretary of Education, highlighted the benefits of the initiative: “The Arkansas ACCESS Portal takes what used to be a confusing, repetitive college application process that would overwhelm students and families and streamlines it into a simple process. With one application and one login, students can reach nearly every campus in Arkansas without fees or barriers. Now, every student in Arkansas can learn about different pathways and directly connect with the institution to help them reach their goals.”
The portal is now live, and Arkansas high school seniors, alongside their parents, counselors, and career coaches, can begin using it. Resources, including guides, FAQs, a list of participating institutions, and key deadlines, are available within the portal’s INFO Center.
Arkansas officials are emphasizing this new tool as a way to expand access to higher education by removing financial and logistical barriers.
