A Batesville man is facing multiple felony drug charges after authorities executed a search warrant at his apartment, uncovering methamphetamine, cocaine, and drug paraphernalia.
Agents with the 16th District Drug Task Force and Batesville Police Department served the warrant late Tuesday morning at an apartment in the 300 block of South 17th Street, according to court records filed in Independence County District Court on Wednesday.
Investigators reported finding five baggies containing a substance that field-tested positive for methamphetamine, weighing more than two but less than 10 grams, as well as a baggie of a substance that field-tested positive for cocaine, weighing less than two grams. Officers also discovered two sets of digital scales, baggies, and a glass methamphetamine smoking device.
The suspect, identified as 20-year-old Eder David Ochoa-Guzman, was arrested and charged with three felonies: possession of methamphetamine with the intent to deliver, which carries a sentence of five to 20 years; maintaining a drug premises, punishable by three to 10 years; and possession of cocaine with the intent to deliver.
Court records also note that Ochoa-Guzman had an outstanding warrant for failing to appear on a traffic violation and has a history of missing court appearances. He is currently being held at the Independence County Jail on a $50,000 bond, with an initial court appearance set for August 25.
The seized evidence will be forwarded to the Arkansas State Crime Laboratory for further analysis, according to a police affidavit.
