Construction is progressing on both campuses of the Izard County STEM School, located in Brockwell and Violet Hill, to expand classroom capacity and improve safety.

Superintendent Fred Walker stated that the projects, which include adding new classrooms and safe rooms to each campus, are proceeding smoothly without reported issues.

The expansion comes in response to steady enrollment growth over the last ten years, which left the school out of available classroom space. According to Walker, the new additions will help accommodate the needs of the students and faculty.

The total cost of the project is $5 million, though a significant portion of the funding comes from grants provided by the Arkansas Department of Education. Walker expressed appreciation for the state’s support, which he noted was critical to making the project possible.

No completion timeline was provided, but construction is visibly active on both campuses, offering a clear indication of the school's commitment to meeting the needs of its growing community.
