A driver was hospitalized Saturday night after a vehicle struck by gunfire crashed into a carport in a Jonesboro neighborhood, authorities said.
Jonesboro Police Department officers responded around 8:07 p.m. to the 2400 block of Westacre Drive after receiving reports of gunfire, according to a statement from the department. Upon arrival, officers discovered that a vehicle had been hit multiple times by gunfire before crashing into a nearby carport within the same block.
The driver of the vehicle was transported to a local hospital for injuries sustained during the crash, police said. As of Saturday night, officials had reported no gunshot wounds to the driver.
Police have not identified the driver or provided an update on their condition. Investigators also have not released information about a possible suspect connected to the shooting.
