A Batesville native with extensive experience in training Arkansas law enforcement officers has been named director of the Black River Technical College (BRTC) Law Enforcement Training Academy. The college announced Ashley Boles’s appointment on August 13.
Boles has been with the BRTC academy for 11 years, most recently serving as coordinator of its Breath Alcohol Testing program. Prior to that, he spent 16 years as juvenile division supervisor for the Second Judicial District. He holds a bachelor’s degree in criminology from Arkansas State University.
In his new role, Boles says his primary goal is to ensure officers graduating from the academy understand the importance of their positions in their communities. “The position they hold in their communities is an honor and a privilege, and it should always be treated as such,” he stated. Boles also expressed his intent for the academy’s training programs to surpass the minimum requirements established by the Arkansas Department of Law Enforcement Standards and Training.
Boles and his wife, Kassie, have been married for 31 years. The couple resides in Jonesboro, where they are members of Brookland Baptist Church. They have two daughters, Eden and Lila.
