PARAGOULD, Ark. – Paragould’s business community continues to expand with the opening of new businesses, even as the city adjusts to the upcoming closure of Smith Drug Company.
A ribbon-cutting ceremony is scheduled for Scatter Creek Trading Company, a new clothing store located at 4501 W. Kingshighway, on Tuesday at 2 p.m. The store’s launch marks the latest addition to the city’s growing commercial landscape.
“All signs point to continued business growth in Paragould,” said Allison Hestand, CEO of the Paragould Chamber of Commerce. “This momentum is creating opportunities for small business owners, entrepreneurs, and large retailers alike to establish themselves here.”
Other new establishments have already taken root in the area. The Hub, a storefront in downtown Paragould, opened last week, while Tommy’s Room, a sensory-friendly space where children with autism can interact with animals in a calm environment, started welcoming visitors earlier this month.
The closing of Smith Drug Company, announced earlier this month, has prompted the Paragould Chamber of Commerce to help displaced employees find new opportunities. According to Hestand, the Chamber is connecting affected workers with other local industries currently hiring.
For entrepreneurs exploring ventures in Paragould, the Chamber offers guidance and resources. “We’re happy to meet with anyone and discuss the different programs available to help new businesses get started,” Hestand added.
Despite the impending loss of an established business like Smith Drug Company, the growing number of openings suggests continued confidence in Paragould’s economic potential.
