Two people from Evening Shade face serious criminal charges after investigators in Sharp County alleged that a man raped a child and a woman enabled the abuse.
According to court documents, 48-year-old Scott Ewing has been charged with multiple felonies, including six counts of rape, a Class Y felony, and one count of sexually grooming a child, a Class D felony. Other charges include first- and second-degree domestic battery and permitting the abuse of a minor.
Summer Wolfe-Ewing, identified as Ewing’s wife, is charged with rape by accomplice liability, a Class Y felony, as well as multiple counts of permitting abuse of a minor and domestic battery by accomplice liability. Prosecutors allege she not only knew about the abuse but actively participated in it.
The investigation began on July 23, when Wolfe-Ewing approached Sharp County deputies at a gas station in Ash Flat, claiming she was fleeing her husband after he had physically harmed both her and their children. The children were taken to White River Medical Center, where investigators documented injuries. One child reportedly had bruising on the arms, stomach, legs, and back.
Deputies with the Crimes Against Children Division and the Sharp County Sheriff’s Office spoke with Wolfe-Ewing, who stated that Scott Ewing had physically abused the children since 2024 and had threatened violence against anyone who tried to intervene. Investigators also learned that one child had been sexually assaulted, with Wolfe-Ewing admitting to striking the children herself at Ewing’s direction.
The victims were later interviewed at the Children’s Advocacy Center, where they corroborated the abuse. Wolfe-Ewing reportedly admitted that the sexual abuse began in late 2025 or early 2026, and she acted as an abuser during that time.
Scott Ewing told investigators he was the victim in the household and denied any wrongdoing, according to law enforcement officials. Meanwhile, the Department of Human Services took custody of the children and conducted a safety assessment.
Ewing is being held at the Sharp County Jail on a $750,000 bond. No details regarding Wolfe-Ewing’s bond were provided.
The case remains under investigation.
