An 18-year-old man has been arrested and charged with video voyeurism following an incident at the Northwest Arkansas Mall. According to a police report, the incident occurred on August 3 while a woman was using a dressing room at JCPenney.

The woman told police she noticed a cellphone camera positioned above the wall separating the dressing rooms. She later saw Diego Rivas leaving the adjacent dressing room and confronted him.

Police examined Rivas’s phone during the initial investigation. While Rivas reportedly refused access to some folders, investigators seized the device and obtained a search warrant on August 7. A search of the phone allegedly uncovered online searches related to video voyeurism and public sexual acts, as well as footage showing Rivas recording people in public without their consent.

Authorities said Rivas returned to the police station and admitted to recording the woman in the dressing room. He also acknowledged deleting the video after being confronted by the victim.

Rivas was arrested on August 14 and is being held at the Washington County Detention Center on a $15,000 bond. The investigation remains ongoing.
