Police in Jonesboro arrested three individuals following a series of violent altercations involving firearms and other weapons at a business on North Culberhouse Street. The incidents, which occurred on March 3, resulted in charges against 37-year-old Jay Thomas, alongside Jessie Lee Thomas and Tosha Levette Thomas.
According to an affidavit, officers were first dispatched to the 500 block of North Culberhouse Street after reports of a disturbance involving weapons. Investigators were informed that Jay Thomas had fired a shotgun at a vehicle occupied by two individuals after a physical altercation earlier in the day. The vehicle was struck but no injuries were reported.
Police detained Jay Thomas, who was found to have an active warrant and a prior felony conviction. Detectives confirmed the victims' account through witness statements and evidence at the scene. The affidavit stated that Thomas was on probation at the time.
In a separate reported incident, Jessie Lee Thomas and Tosha Levette Thomas were accused of confronting the business owner and another individual. According to the affidavit, the pair—who are related—arrived armed with a golf club, baseball bat, and a firearm.
One victim reported that Jessie Lee Thomas struck him in the face with the firearm, causing it to discharge. Tosha Levette Thomas then allegedly hit the victim with a golf club. During the scuffle, the victim disarmed Jessie Lee Thomas with the help of a witness, and the firearm was recovered. Jessie Lee Thomas later threw a drill at the victim, striking him in the face, the affidavit added.
Detectives noted injuries on the victim consistent with his statement and corroborated his account with witness testimony and recovered evidence. Both Jessie and Tosha Thomas reportedly admitted to the altercation during police interviews. Officers further uncovered that Jessie Lee Thomas had a prior felony conviction.
Court records show that Jessie Lee Thomas pleaded guilty in a prior case to possession of a firearm by certain persons on August 14 and received a suspended sentence of 36 months. She was also ordered by the Second Judicial Circuit Court to pay court fees and complete a GED program. Additionally, a charge of aggravated assault was dismissed in that case.
The investigation into the most recent incidents is ongoing, and authorities have not provided further details on the charges or potential court appearances for the suspects.
