The Arkansas State University System has been awarded the Government Finance Officers Association's Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting for the 14th consecutive year. The recognition applies to the system’s financial operations, including those at Arkansas State University-Mountain Home (ASUMH).

The award, which highlights the fiscal year ending June 30, 2025, is presented to institutions that not only comply with accounting standards but also communicate a clear and transparent financial story to the public. An independent panel evaluates submissions, with the association describing the certificate as the highest distinction in government financial reporting.

Dr. Russ Hannah, the system's chief financial officer, attributed the successful achievement to staff collaboration across all campuses. Calling the honor "an important external validation," Hannah said it demonstrates the commitment of the system's finance teams to accountability and precision. The annual comprehensive financial report is overseen by Landen Crancer, associate vice president for finance and administration, with preparation handled by the system's Office of Finance in Jonesboro. Contributions come from finance teams across the system’s campuses, including ASUMH, under the leadership of Vice Chancellor for Finance and Administration Waynna Dockins.

The Government Finance Officers Association, which has run the certificate program since 1945, seeks to encourage state and local governments to adopt financial reporting practices that exceed basic requirements. The organization represents over 25,000 members across the U.S. and Canada.

ASUMH, a two-year college serving Baxter and Marion counties along with parts of southern Missouri, joined the ASU System in 1995 and is led by Chancellor Dr. Bentley Wallace. The ASU System remains the only higher education institution in Arkansas to receive this prestigious accolade.
