Paragould, Ark. — Families flocked to Pruett Street in downtown Paragould on Saturday, where city officials turned on fire hydrants to create a water-filled escape from the summer heat as part of the annual Street Splash festival.
The festival, which featured open fire hydrants, sprinklers, bounce houses, and a variety of food trucks, provided a festive way for the community to cool off and come together. For many attendees, including young resident Cheyenne Taflya, this was their first experience at the event. Taflya was quick to choose a favorite activity, saying, "I'd probably say the sprinkler."
Co-sponsored by St. Bernards Healthcare and the Paragould Regional Chamber of Commerce’s "Spend Paragould" campaign, the event also had a philanthropic purpose. Main Street Paragould hosted a "Pack the Pantry" food drive in conjunction with the festival, collecting nonperishable goods to benefit local families in need.
The event is part of an ongoing effort to strengthen community ties while offering fun and practical support for residents during the warmer months.
