Mountain Home Christian Academy (MHCA) has started its 48th academic year with 210 students enrolled in Pre-K through 12th grade and a range of new educational initiatives aimed at expanding learning opportunities. Founded in 1978 as North Central Arkansas Christian School, the institution has continued to grow and evolve, officially becoming Mountain Home Christian Academy in later years.

This year, students will benefit from the introduction of a STEM program developed through the AOPO Foundation. The program offers hands-on opportunities in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics, aimed at enhancing critical thinking and technical skills. Another addition is the Kingdom Builders program, designed to give high school students practical experience in construction and skilled trades while incorporating biblical principles such as responsibility, stewardship, and work ethics.

MHCA is also deepening its partnership with John Brown University to provide expanded dual-enrollment opportunities. This initiative allows high school students to earn college credits while completing their secondary education.

In addition to these academic developments, MHCA has welcomed seven new faculty and staff members for the 2026-27 school year. New staff include Cindy Bogy (second grade), Tammy Stafford (first grade), Bill Joiner (Bible and high school electives), Shane Nelson (Bible, high school electives, and security), Nikki Souder (high school math), Wendy Windell (high school science), and Haley Slusser (Pre-K 4 paraprofessional).

The school has also reported encouraging results from last year’s standardized testing, noting strong reading performance, with several grade levels achieving scores above their enrolled grade. Mathematics remains a focus area, and the school is committed to further improving academic outcomes across all grade levels.
