MARIANNA, Ark. — A Marianna man has been sentenced to 20 years in state prison after pleading no contest to second-degree murder in a 2024 shooting that left one man dead.
Jeremiah Keundre Harris, 20, entered his plea on Thursday, August 13, in Lee County Circuit Court, acknowledging his role in the death of Danny Jordan, 25, also of Marianna.
The shooting occurred on the night of October 15, 2024, at the South Pointe Apartments located on California Street. According to authorities, Marianna police responded to reports of gunfire around 9:30 p.m. and discovered Jordan in the doorway of one of the apartments with apparent gunshot wounds. The Lee County coroner pronounced him dead at the scene.
The Marianna Police Department requested assistance from the Arkansas State Police Criminal Investigation Division to handle the case. State police special agents arrested Harris two days later, on October 17, 2024.
Following his plea, Harris was sentenced to serve 20 years in the Arkansas Division of Correction.
