Mountain Home High School has placed third overall in the annual MaxPreps Cup, a ranking of athletic programs across Arkansas, according to an announcement by the Arkansas Activities Association (AAA) on Thursday. The Bombers were outranked only by Brookland and Bentonville, with the latter earning its thirteenth top finish since the rankings began.
Mountain Home’s athletic achievements during the last school year were wide-ranging. The school captured state championship titles in both boys’ and girls’ cross country. Additional highlights included a girls’ basketball team that finished as state runner-up and a boys’ track team that also placed second at the state level. Additionally, Mountain Home earned berths in multiple state tournament events across other sports.
The MaxPreps Cup rankings are determined using an algorithm developed by MaxPreps, the official scores, schedules, and statistics partner of the AAA. The formula awards points for accomplishments such as state championships and runner-up finishes, along with factoring in national rankings. Additional considerations include the size of the state, the popularity of the sport, the size of the school, and the number of teams competing in each playoff division.
The achievement reflects the hard work and dedication of Mountain Home’s athletes and coaching staff across a variety of sports, underscoring the depth of the school’s athletic program.
