The Independence County Board of Equalization is currently in session and will meet on Wednesday, Sept. 2, to hear property tax appeals.
Residents wishing to appear before the Board on that date must schedule a meeting through the Independence County Clerk’s Office. Appointments can be made by calling 870-793-8828 between 8 a.m. and 4:30 p.m., Monday through Friday.
The deadline to request a meeting is Thursday, Aug. 17.
The Board of Equalization reviews appeals from property owners who believe their property tax assessments are inaccurate. This annual process allows residents to present evidence supporting their appeal and request adjustments.
