Jonesboro police are investigating two incidents where pedestrians were struck by a vehicle on Saturday evening, leaving four people injured.
The first incident occurred around 6:30 p.m. when officers and emergency personnel were called to the Walmart Market on Harrisburg Road. Police said two pedestrians at the scene had been hit by a vehicle that fled before authorities arrived. Both individuals were transported to a local hospital, where one was reported to be in critical condition, and the other sustained minor injuries.
Shortly afterward, at approximately 6:36 p.m., police received reports that the same vehicle had entered Craighead Forest, veered onto a pedestrian walking path, and struck two more individuals. The driver fled the scene on foot after the collision.
Bystanders in the area assisted officers by pointing out the suspect’s direction of flight. Using a police canine, authorities located and apprehended the suspect after a physical confrontation.
The two pedestrians injured at Craighead Forest were also transported to a nearby hospital. As of the latest updates, one remains in critical condition, while the other suffered minor injuries.
Jonesboro Police credited their Real-Time Crime Center technology and patrol officers for swiftly identifying the suspect, as well as the support of the Jonesboro Fire Department, park rangers, and Code Enforcement during the incidents.
The investigation is ongoing, and officials indicated more information would be released as it becomes available.
