Entergy Arkansas has announced a temporary suspension of utility service disconnections in response to the extreme heat currently affecting the state. According to a statement from the company, the pause will remain in effect through Friday, Aug. 21, with disconnections scheduled to resume on Monday, Aug. 24.
The decision comes as Arkansas residents endure dangerously high temperatures during the peak of summer. Entergy has also provided tips to help customers stay safe and manage energy costs during the heatwave.
Those working outdoors or engaging in physical activity are advised to stay hydrated and take frequent breaks in shaded or air-conditioned areas. Residents are also encouraged to limit outdoor labor during the hottest parts of the day.
Entergy also suggested several small, budget-friendly measures to reduce cooling costs while maintaining comfort at home. These include setting thermostats to the highest comfortable temperature, using ceiling fans to circulate air, sealing leaks around doors and windows, and closing blinds or curtains during the day to block out direct sunlight.
