JONESBORO, Ark. — InnovAsian, a company specializing in frozen Asian meals, officially broke ground Tuesday on a $150 million, 180,000-square-foot manufacturing facility in the Jonesboro Industrial Park.
The facility’s groundbreaking ceremony took place at the corner of C.W. Post Road and Quality Way, drawing remarks from local, state, and national leaders, including Jonesboro Mayor Harold Copenhaver, Craighead County Judge Marvin Day, U.S. Representative Rick Crawford, and Arkansas Governor Sarah Huckabee Sanders.
Once operational, the facility is expected to employ approximately 200 people. An initial hiring phase will bring about 90 employees onboard, with applications anticipated to open next spring. According to InnovAsian representatives, construction is expected to be completed in early 2028.
Jonesboro was selected over 120 potential locations as the site for what will be InnovAsian’s largest North American facility. CEO Joe Kent explained the decision, stating that the city met all the company’s criteria for the project, which includes sourcing local ingredients like chicken and rice, as well as cultivating a locally based workforce.
Local officials emphasized the community-focused approach of both InnovAsian and Jonesboro. Craighead County Judge Marvin Day noted the role the area’s welcoming atmosphere played in securing the investment. "We work hard. Jonesboro has such a friendly community. And I think that’s really what won them over, to locate here versus other places," Day said.
Mayor Copenhaver echoed those sentiments, highlighting InnovAsian’s plans to integrate into the community and draw from local talent. “Because we work together. We listen. We come together to resolve issues if we have those. And then we support those that are in need. And this is what this company is about," Copenhaver said.
Glenn Scott, the incoming branch manager for the Jonesboro facility, plans to relocate to the area in 2027, reinforcing the company’s commitment to building a local presence.
The project marks a significant economic investment for the region and is expected to contribute to the growth and development of Jonesboro’s industrial sector.
