Authorities have implemented burn bans across the tri-county region, including Fulton, Sharp, and Izard counties, due to dry conditions and increased fire risk.
Izard County Judge Eric Smith issued the countywide burn ban on Tuesday, joining earlier restrictions announced in Fulton and Sharp counties. Stone and Independence counties are also under burn bans. Officials emphasized that these prohibitions will remain in place until further notice.
Under Arkansas law, violating a burn ban is a misdemeanor offense that may result in a fine of up to $1,000 and up to one year of jail time.
Residents are urged to avoid all open burning activities, including campfires, yard debris burning, and other outdoor flames, during the ban period to help prevent accidental fires.
