Arkansas State University Mountain Home (ASUMH) is preparing for a substantial expansion and renovation of its Gotaas Hall Health Science Building. The Arkansas State University System Board of Trustees approved the resolution for the capital project during a special meeting last week.
ASUMH Chancellor Dr. Bentley Wallace stated that the upgrades have been made possible through federal funding as well as resources set aside by the university. According to Wallace, the improvements will not only involve adding space to the existing facility but will also support an expansion of the school’s health science curriculum.
“Not only are we addressing space needs, but this project will allow us to introduce new programs,” Wallace said.
ASUMH hopes to begin construction on the project in the near future, although a specific timeline has not been provided. Gotaas Hall serves as a key facility for the university’s health science department, supporting training and education for a variety of healthcare-related careers.
