Tax-delinquent properties in Baxter County will be available for purchase at a regional auction on Saturday, August 26, according to the Arkansas Commissioner of State Lands. The event will also include properties from Stone County and is scheduled to begin at 10 a.m. at the Vada Sheid Community Development Center on the Arkansas State University-Mountain Home campus, located at 600 S. College St. Registration opens at 9 a.m.
Commissioner of State Lands Tommy Land highlighted the efficiency of regional auctions, stating, “Bidders can be at the sales for multiple counties at a single event.” Properties will be auctioned alphabetically by county.
Prospective bidders are encouraged to review the Public Auction Catalog at cosl.org, which includes detailed information on available parcels, auction procedures, and resources such as a buyer’s guide and video tutorial.
Owners of tax-delinquent parcels should note that the redemption period ends at 4 p.m. on the last business day before the auction. Both the petition to redeem and payment must be received by the Commissioner of State Lands office by that deadline. Properties sold at auction cannot be redeemed later, and all sales are final.
Individuals wishing to bid must register and present a valid federal or state-issued ID. Accepted payment methods include personal or business checks, as well as credit or debit cards. Cash will not be accepted. Starting bids reflect the amount of taxes, penalties, and interest owed on each parcel. Future property tax obligations—including 2025 property taxes—will remain the responsibility of winning bidders and must be paid to the county tax collector by October 15.
Unpurchased properties from the auction will be placed on the Commissioner of State Lands post-auction sales list 30 days later. These parcels may then be acquired through an online auction system.
Delinquent property owners can redeem their parcels online at cosl.org using a credit or debit card. Payments by check or money order must be submitted with a completed Petition to Redeem, which can be downloaded from the website or requested by calling (501) 324-9422.
