The Baxter County Sheriff’s Office is now accepting applications for unpaid reserve and auxiliary deputy sheriff positions. These volunteer deputies work alongside full-time officers to assist in a variety of law enforcement duties, the sheriff’s office announced.
To qualify, applicants must meet several requirements. Candidates must be U.S. citizens, at least 21 years old, and free of felony convictions in any state, territory, or jurisdiction. A valid Arkansas driver’s license is mandatory. Additionally, applicants must pass a background check, a physical examination, and a psychological evaluation. Selected individuals will need to complete the training required by the state for reserve law enforcement officers.
While the Baxter County Sheriff’s Office provides uniforms and training for the role, reserve deputies are expected to supply their own handgun, duty belt, and most other required equipment.
Applications are available in person at the Sheriff’s Administration Offices during regular business hours. For further information, interested individuals can contact Lt. Lee Sanders, the office’s support services commander, at lsanders@baxtercountysheriff.com or by calling 870-425-7000.
