The Arkansas State Police have released details about a single-vehicle accident in Clay County that left one person dead and another injured late Monday night.
According to the crash report, the incident occurred on August 10 at approximately 10:33 p.m. on Highway 67 near County Road 154, just south of Corning. A 2016 Ford Focus, driven by U’riel Andreas Aranza, 23, of Poplar Bluff, Missouri, was traveling north on the highway when the vehicle lost control.
The car reportedly crossed the centerline, left the roadway on the left side, and struck a ditch bank. It then traveled through a field before coming to rest in a creek bed.
Aranza, identified as the driver, was pronounced dead at the scene. A passenger in the vehicle, 23-year-old Shelby Leann Lutes, was injured in the crash. Her condition has not been disclosed.
The Arkansas State Police are investigating the cause of the accident.
