Body Found Near Hoxie Church Under Investigation

Authorities are investigating the death of a man found Tuesday afternoon near the People’s Faith Tabernacle Church in Hoxie.

According to Lawrence County E-911 dispatch, the Hoxie Police Department was notified at approximately 3:15 p.m. of a body located near the church's parking lot on Sullens Road. Officers responding to the scene identified the deceased as James Frey, 34, of Salem.

Local authorities requested assistance from the Arkansas State Police (ASP) to investigate the case. On Wednesday, an ASP spokesperson confirmed their involvement in determining the circumstances surrounding Frey’s death.

The body has been sent to the Arkansas State Crime Laboratory, where medical examiners will work to establish the cause of death.
