FAYETTEVILLE — Arkansas senior tight end Jaden Platt has been named to the 2026 Allstate Wuerffel Trophy Watch List, the Wuerffel Foundation announced Tuesday. Platt is one of 113 college football players nationwide nominated for the award.
The Allstate Wuerffel Trophy honors student-athletes demonstrating excellence both on and off the field. Named after Danny Wuerffel, the 1996 Heisman Trophy-winning quarterback from the University of Florida, the award celebrates leadership, community service, and unity.
Platt has been active in the Fayetteville and Northwest Arkansas communities since joining the Razorbacks in the spring of 2025. His contributions include leading a winter coat drive in December 2025 that provided more than 100 coats to youth at the Yolanda Richardson Community Center. He has also visited elementary schools to speak with students, met with veterans at the local VA hospital, and participated in several back-to-school and community service events organized by Arkansas Athletics.
A native of Haslet, Texas, Platt also excels on the football field. In the 2025 season, he started 11 games and played in all 12, recording 21 receptions for 296 yards and two touchdowns. Notably, he had a career-high 66-yard game against Texas on November 22, highlighted by an eight-yard touchdown catch from quarterback KJ Jackson. Earlier in the season, he posted three catches for 53 yards in a road game against Ole Miss on September 13.
The 2026 Allstate Wuerffel Trophy finalists will be selected by a national committee in addition to fan voting. The winner will be announced on December 11 during the Home Depot College Football Awards show. The recipient will also serve as the captain of the 2026 Allstate AFCA Good Works Team and will be invited to attend events in New York City during Heisman Trophy festivities. The formal trophy presentation will take place in February 2027 at the College Football Hall of Fame in Atlanta.
Platt and the Razorbacks will begin their 2026 season against North Alabama on September 5 at Donald W. Reynolds Razorback Stadium. The game is scheduled for 3:15 p.m. and will air on SEC Network.
