Baxter County officials are cautioning local residents about a jury duty scam after a report of a fraudulent phone call targeting a community member.
Baxter County and Circuit Clerk Canda Reese confirmed that a resident recently received a call in which the scammer claimed the individual owed $5,000 for failing to appear for jury duty. The caller threatened that failure to pay would result in arrest.
Reese emphasized that this phone call was a scam and reminded residents not to give money or personal information to anyone posing such demands. "If you receive a suspicious call regarding jury duty, please verify the information directly with our office," Reese advised.
