A Baxter County man has pleaded guilty to drug-related charges and will enter an addiction treatment program as part of his sentence.
Dustin Dearmore, 33, entered the guilty plea in Baxter County Circuit Court on August 3. He was charged with possession of methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia and was sentenced to three years of probation. The court also ordered him to complete an addiction rehabilitation program.
The charges stem from an incident in late May when Baxter County sheriff’s deputies responded to a call at Dearmore’s mother’s residence on Wehmeyer Drive. According to officials, Dearmore had been previously barred from the property following a violent altercation. Deputies said Dearmore told them he had arrived at the property to get a ride from his mother, but officers reminded him that he was not allowed on the premises. During the visit, law enforcement determined that Dearmore had an active warrant issued by the Mountain Home Police Department and took him into custody without incident.
While still at the property, officers said Dearmore's mother inquired about a backpack she believed her son had with him. Deputies initially found no backpack, but it was later discovered near the home’s back porch. Inside, investigators found a glass smoking pipe containing a crystalline substance believed to be methamphetamine, a lighter, and a "rock-like chunk" of a crystal substance outside the bag.
During Dearmore's court appearance, it was announced that part of his sentencing includes the requirement to complete an addiction treatment program. No further details about the program were disclosed.
