Baxter Health has announced the addition of Dr. William Spencer Grigg, an electrophysiologist, to its cardiovascular team. The hospital is launching a dedicated cardiac electrophysiology program around him, bringing advanced care for abnormal heart rhythms to the Twin Lakes area.
Dr. Grigg, who will begin seeing patients in late August, specializes in diagnosing and treating arrhythmias, including atrial fibrillation. This condition, marked by an irregular and often rapid heartbeat, can increase the risk of stroke or heart failure if untreated. Until now, Twin Lakes residents requiring such care often had to travel hours for treatment.
Grigg is trained in catheter ablation, a minimally invasive procedure used to correct abnormal electrical pathways in the heart. He also implants pacemakers and defibrillators and performs Watchman-type procedures to reduce stroke risk for atrial fibrillation patients unable to remain on long-term blood thinners.
Baxter Health President and CEO Ron Peterson called the new program a significant advancement for the hospital and its patients. “Bringing a dedicated electrophysiology program to Mountain Home means our patients no longer have to leave home to access this level of heart rhythm care,” Peterson said. He praised Grigg as both a highly skilled physician and someone committed to becoming part of the community.
Grigg completed his internal medicine residency and general cardiology fellowship at UCHealth and the University of Colorado. He recently finished an advanced fellowship in cardiac electrophysiology at the University of Rochester Medical Center. Originally from Hickory, North Carolina, Grigg plans to settle in Mountain Home with his wife and children.
Outside of his medical practice, he enjoys volunteering, traveling, skiing, mountain biking, and hiking. He will join Baxter Health's cardiovascular team, which includes several experienced cardiologists and advanced practice nurses.
