Residents of Stone County can support a lifesaving cause and enjoy summer-themed rewards during the 'Dogs Day of Summer' blood drive, hosted by Stone Bank in partnership with the Arkansas Blood Institute.
The event is scheduled for Tuesday, running from 12:30 to 4 p.m., at Stone Bank’s location at 802 E. Main St. in Mountain View. A mobile donation unit operated by the Arkansas Blood Institute will be stationed on-site to collect blood donations, which are vital for replenishing supplies used by regional health care providers.
Appointments can be scheduled online by visiting www.arkbi.org, selecting 'Find a Blood Drive,' and entering the Mountain View ZIP code, 72560. Donors may also call Melissa Sutton at 870-819-4743. Walk-in donations are welcome.
As a token of appreciation, donors will receive a complimentary 'Dog Days' T-shirt and a 'Bloodhounds Bandana.' They can also choose between a free ticket to Six Flags Frontier City in Oklahoma City or Magic Springs in Hot Springs.
The eligibility criteria for donors are as follows: 16-year-olds must weigh at least 125 pounds and provide signed parental permission; 17-year-olds must weigh at least 125 pounds; and donors aged 18 and up must weigh at least 110 pounds. All participating donors are required to present a valid photo ID.
