The Mountain Home Community Center is adjusting pool hours this month in response to the start of the school year and changes in lifeguard availability, according to Mayor Hillrey Adams.
Adams explained that many lifeguards who worked at the facility over the summer have returned to high school and college. To address this, the Community Center has employed forethought by offering after-school lifeguard positions to local high school students.
The facility’s indoor competition pool, which serves purposes including competitive swimming, lap exercises, aerobic classes, and swim lessons, has seen broader public use during the summer months. However, a few accidents have occurred, increasing the focus on safety and staff availability.
Adams also noted that with colder months ahead, the Community Center will reevaluate its pool operations to ensure continued access for patrons.
Currently, the facility offers two outdoor water aerobics classes and two walking classes in the lazy river. Due to high demand, two additional indoor aerobics classes have been added. Adams remarked that the Community Center draws visitors from more than an hour away and encouraged patrons to stay updated on schedule adjustments.
