Mountain Home Public Schools are set to open their doors for the new academic year, with enrollment expected to start at approximately 3,642 students. Superintendent Allyson Dewey stated the district is well-prepared to welcome students back after weeks of preparation by educators, administrators, and support staff.
Although the current enrollment figure offers a snapshot, Dewey noted that the numbers typically fluctuate throughout August as families continue registration and finalize schedules. She highlighted that balancing staffing levels remains one of the district’s most pressing challenges, particularly as class sizes can vary widely across different grade levels.
Dewey pointed out a continued growth in enrollment at the middle school level, which she attributes in part to the district’s diverse extracurricular offerings. Middle school programs, including athletics and other student activities, have been a draw for families in the area.
Among the changes for the 2026–27 school year, the district is expanding its high school marching band, offering additional opportunities for student participation. Mountain Home Public Schools also welcomes a new Communications Director, Hope House, to their team.
As excitement for the new school year builds, Superintendent Dewey emphasized the enthusiasm among students and staff alike. To cap off the first week of classes, the community is invited to attend the 17th annual First Security Bank Bomberfest, set to take place Friday at Bomber Stadium. The event, which begins at 5 p.m., will feature the KTLO BBQ Cook-Off Challenge and other entertainment. Bomberfest has become a local tradition, celebrating the strong ties between the district and the community it serves.
