Arkansas State University-Mountain Home (ASUMH) is expanding its Mountain Home Art Walk with a national Call for Entry for its new Visiting Artists Series, alongside a three-year sponsorship by Jim Brown Company as the program’s presenting sponsor.
This initiative will bring a rotating collection of outdoor sculptures created by artists from across the United States to the Twin Lakes Region twice a year. Through a competitive, juried selection process, artists will exhibit their work at one of Arkansas’s prominent public art destinations, offering fresh cultural experiences for visitors and showcasing contemporary sculpture.
"Public art has the power to inspire conversation, strengthen communities, and create lasting cultural experiences,” said Dr. Bentley Wallace, Chancellor of ASUMH. “We are thrilled to launch this national opportunity for artists while celebrating the generous support of Jim Brown Company, whose investment will help sustain this exciting new program for years to come.”
The sponsorship provides funding for artist stipends, exhibition programming, and the continued growth of ASUMH’s public art initiatives. Mayor Hillrey Adams of Mountain Home praised the announcement. “The Mountain Home Art Walk has become a tremendous community asset, attracting visitors while enhancing our residents’ quality of life,” he said. “This exciting series will bring outstanding sculpture and talented artists from across the country, further enhancing Mountain Home as a destination for arts, culture, and outdoor recreation.”
The Call for Entry is open to emerging, mid-career, and established sculptors nationwide via the CaFE (Call for Entry) platform. Selected works will be displayed in a high-profile outdoor exhibition for roughly five months, with artists receiving a $1,000 stipend to assist with expenses related to travel, installation, and exhibition. Approximately 10 to 12 works by two to three artists will be chosen by a panel of qualified jurors. The submission deadline is September 15, 2026. Notifications to selected artists will follow in late September, and installations will begin October 15. Artists may also sell their pieces directly to interested buyers during the exhibition.
The Mountain Home Art Walk includes both permanent and rotating sculptures along the James and Sally Moore Recreational Trail and the Shirley Baker Nature Trail, which runs beneath the U.S. Highway 62 bypass. The Visiting Artists Series will add new sculptures twice annually, encouraging visitors to explore the changing exhibits.
