The Fulton County Cooperative Extension Service will host the Perfect Pickle Canning Workshop on Wednesday, August 27, from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. The event is set to take place at the White River Area Agency on Aging office on North Main Street (Highway 9 North) in Salem.
The workshop, designed to teach proper canning techniques and help residents make the most of this season’s abundant cucumber harvest, will be co-led by Melinda Coffman, family and consumer sciences agent for Fulton County, and Chelsea Conway, her counterpart in Sharp County.
The cost to attend is $10, and pre-registration and payment are required by the August 27 deadline. Interested participants can register by contacting the Fulton County Extension Office at 870-895-3301 or the Sharp County Extension Office at 870-994-7363.
The class aims to provide attendees with practical, hands-on experience in canning to safely and effectively preserve their cucumbers and produce other pickled goods. Those who join will gain skills to extend the life of fresh produce while maintaining its nutritional value.
