David Adams, 50, of Evening Shade, has been arrested on an outstanding warrant for five counts of rape, a Class Y felony, according to Sharp County officials.
Court records indicate that Adams is accused of raping a minor beginning in 2021, when the victim was 9 or 10 years old. The abuse is alleged to have continued several times a week until October 2025.
The investigation began in February 2026 after the victim disclosed the allegations to the Child Advocacy Center in Batesville. The victim provided details of the abuse, leading to law enforcement involvement. Following the investigation, a bench warrant for Adams' arrest was issued in May 2026.
Adams was taken into custody on August 7, 2026, and booked into the Sharp County Detention Center. He is currently awaiting a bond hearing and court date.
Under Arkansas law, rape is classified as a Class Y felony, the most severe class of felony, which can carry a sentence of 10 to 40 years or life in prison upon conviction.
